A Finer Fragrance – Salvatore Ferragamo – Emozione

This weekend I was in desperate need of some makeup brushes and hit Areej Beauty to see what I could find.  I went in for makeup brushes and left with the new Eau de Parfum by Ferragamo, called Emozione.

The multifaceted fragrance combines feminine floral bouquets to a refined and precious woody texture.  Yet the freshness of Bergamot that has been softened by powdery Iris and White Peach provides a velvety sensation.  The distinct femininity of the fragrance can be found through a bouquet of delicate flowers (which when I read up on the fragrance also includes Peonies, Roses and Heliotrope), make this perfume a perfect summertime spritz.

Ferragamo himself had been quoted as saying that he found his inspiration from the women in his life.  So it came as no surprise when I found that their inspiration for the fragrance came from his "Philosophy and vision.  Salvatore Ferragamo bestows an iconic Eau de Parfum for a woman who desires genuine things and true moments of plenitude.  A classic yet modern fragrance that encodes the pleasure of emotions and fulfillment of life: Emozione Fragrance."

Fashion FROW - Amato by Furne One

Following on from the Math Collective show was Furne One’s stunning collection. His intricate attention to detail won him rave reviews when he shows at New York Fashion week, not to mention the legions of celebrity fans that have worn his designs – Everyone from Katy Perry and Shakira to Heidi Klum and Beyoncé.

The structured designs, all in white, were perfectly tailored.  From beautiful lace peplum halter neck tops, with sheer paneling at the back which had been teamed perfectly with a pair of white flares, to a knee length dress of white feathers, which was synched in at the waist by a corset belt.

Throughout the show, there was a great deal of sheer paneling which is perfect for summer.  Often, they were interfused with lace, with and without sequins.  Alternatively, they have ornate exotic flowers embroidered into the cloth (I have attached a photo – Albeit not the best picture to illustrate the detailing).

The photos do this collection no justice.

Fashion Show FROW - The Math Collective

Last Friday saw Season 2 of the Fashion Victims at the Atlantis Hotel, and I made it in time to see The Math Collective Pre Fall 2015 show.

The collection, which has a minimalist feel to it, took the trend for sports to a new level featuring shift dresses, A-line mini skirts, and tops that were squared off, sometimes showing a midriff and sometimes not.  The minimalist feel came predominantly from the various taupe shades and black colour scheme which was a theme running through the show.

With black and white geometric prints thrown into the mix, the collection had many pieces that can be worn day to night, but the overall feel is most certainly of luxurious comfort, with an athletic feel.  It is perfect to take you from the school run, to meetings to lunch with friends – All you need to do is change your shoes!

Claudia Schiffer

One of my all time style icons with her effortless style - not to mention stunning beauty - Claudia Schiffer still knows how to look polished at all times.

When this picture landed on my desk this morning (although I am sure I saw this at the end of last year), I wanted to post it as she is wearing my go-to outfit combo of jeans, blazer and perfect accessories to tailor-make a look that takes you from the school run, to meetings and lunch with friends.  This never-go-wrong choice of attire is always perfected with the accessories, in this case Longchamp.

Longchamp Spring 2015 Collection

Wow, I love the Longchamp Spring collection.

The sporty feel that is evident throughout, makes this look the perfect summer collection, easily taking you from day to night, just by adding a pair of heals and clutch bag.  Artistic Director Sophie Delafontaine sums up the feel of the collection when she described it as, “Freshness and light”.

The fresh mood is summed up by the collection’s striking reinterpretation of sportswear codes.  “We translated the idea in two ways,” explains Delafontaine, “either by subverting a sophisticated cut with a sporty fabric, or by elevating a sporty shape with a sophisticated fabric.”  She cites an elegant sleeveless dress with a softly gathered skirt which is given a relaxed twist in cotton piqué, and a sweatshirt-style top which, conversely, is dressed up in polyester satin with sheer organza inserts.

Light infuses the collection’s two contrasting themes: the heavenly glow of the Northern Lights inspires a palette of cool, at times almost fluorescent pastels – pale pink, aquamarine, neon yellow – which are combined with black and white; the more intense light of the South is translated in bold, saturated shades of red, coral and deep blue.

“No Longchamp collection would be complete without a standout piece in leather, which is,” says Delafontaine, “in our DNA.”  This season, the Artistic Director picks out two: a sporty short-sleeved blouson in the butter-soft métis leather used for Le Pliage Cuir (the design also echoes key details of the iconic bag and comes in the same paintbox brights), and a sophisticated leopard-print blouson in baby calfskin.

Alongside the neo-leopard pattern, subtly revisited in pastel shades, the season’s other key print is knotted rope, which appears on a series of pieces in polyester and silk.  Inspired by the technical rope of water sports equipment, the knotted rope motif is placed to mimic a necklace on a top and blouson, or a belt slung around a shift dress – another way in which this Longchamp collection offers a fresh and elegant vision of sport.

The perfect sporty accompaniment – even for us coach potatoes.
